Hiking on the adret (sunniest) side of Habère-Poche, discovering hamlets and the superb Turche wood.
Along the way, you'll come across reservoirs and the Habère-Poche water catchment area. This water comes from Mont Forchat just above, the water tower of the Chablais region, supplying nearly 30,000 inhabitants with drinking water.
From the Tourist Office, follow the main road towards Thonon as far as the old school (approx. 200 m).
From here, turn right onto the Route Communale des Molliets, passing through the hamlets of Chez Berthet and Le Vernay (1).
At Le Vernay, take the Contamines track on your left, then the road
for 500 meters.
You'll reach the hamlet of Doucy (2).
Take the upward path on your right.
At the reservoir, turn right onto the forest track to Les Granges Mamet (3).
From the Granges, follow the track for a few metres and then take the
Tour de Vallée Verte path on your right.
You will then arrive at Granges Michaud.
Continue on the same path down to Col des Arces (4).
At the pass, cross the road and take the path on your right: you enter the Turche woods.
Continue on this path through the wood for 30 minutes until you reach a clearing and the Crête (5).
From here, take the right-hand path towards Granges Collet.
You then leave the meadow and descend into the forest on a steep path which becomes gentler after crossing a small stream.
You come to a small road at the hamlet of Chez Curial (6). Take this road on your left, then the path leading to the hamlet of
des Lavouets (7).
From Les Lavouets, follow the small communal road downhill on your right until you reach the departmental road.
Follow the road back to your starting point.
